This hydraulic Bucking Unit adoptes the working desgin of industry’s push and pull assembly

It is highly automated supports a wide range of tools and tube dimeter(60-260mm) in thread guiding and tools alignment, in order to ensure maximum protection of work piece surface during operation, the unit uese special rorary screw clamps(quicky-rotary screw tongs) with no teetch marks, its ease of operation and maintenance help users save operation cost and time.

Hydraulic Bucking Unit

  • 1.RIG20 bucking machine is driven and controlling by both hydraulic and pneumatic system. The system is simple, also has convenient and flexible manipulation.
  • 2.The system is controlled by pneumatic except for power tong hydraulic motors so that can greatly reduce the oil leakage.
  • 3.The power tong uses closing form, which is driven by hydraulic motor with roller climbing clamping. The clamp head include 4 jaw plates with 90º proportional distributing, every jaw plate has 4-6 teeth. A total of 16-24 teeth contact the coupling surface with reliable clamping. Teeth marks accord with API standard. The clamp head is reset by means of automatic positioning machinery, quickly and reliably.
  • 4.The backup tong also uses closed form, which is driven by the pneumatic cylinder. The jaw clamping rollers climbing principle is similar to the driving clamp.
  • 5.The power tong and the backup tong can automatically regulate to meet the casing and coupling which have a little bending.
  • 6.The replacement of dies is convenient.
  • 7.The backup tong is equipping with tension sensor which is using to measure torque (the unit is k.Nm). Control system will contrast the torque value and screw circles to the setting value, so that the bucking machine operates automatically.

Make-Up Torque and Breakout Torque

A bucking unit should not be selected from nominal pipe size alone.
The required torque range must cover both:
Make-up torque
The controlled torque applied when assembling the threaded connection.
Breakout torque
The torque required to loosen and separate the connection during disassembly or repair.
Breakout torque may differ significantly from the original make-up value after service.
For machine selection, provide both values whenever possible.

Torque Control

A basic machine may use hydraulic torque indication or digital torque display.
Where the connection requires a controlled final torque, the operator can work to a programmed torque limit.
For premium connections or jobs where the make-up process must be recorded, the machine can be configured with torque-turn monitoring.

Torque-turn control records more than the final torque. It can also capture the number of turns, shoulder point, final make-up position and the complete make-up curve.
This is particularly useful for repair shops, OEM assembly and premium threaded connections where a connection record is required.

Machine Length and Workshop Arrangement

The longest tool often determines the overall machine layout.
A workshop handling short subs and couplings requires a very different arrangement from one handling drill collars, mud motors or complete downhole assemblies.
Before the machine bed is finalized, the available workshop space and handling method should be checked.

The supplier normally needs to know the longest tool, heaviest tool and whether loading will be carried out by overhead crane, forklift or roller support.
For an existing work hop, a simple floor plan is usually sufficient for preliminary layout review.

Where space is limited, the support arrangement and operator access should also be considered before the machine is manufactured.
A workshop layout or equipment GA can be reviewed together with the machine quotation.

Fixed and Skid-Mounted Configurations

Most permanent service shops use a fixed bucking unit.
This arrangement works well where the machine is installing as part of a regular repair or assembly line and can be connecting permanently to the workshop electrical and hydraulic systems.

A skid-mounted or relocatable arrangement may be more suitable for service bases where equipment needs to move between work areas.
The mobile configuration should not be selecting simply for convenience. Machine weight, transport dimensions, lifting points and tool-handling method still need to be considering.
