Description
Rig Kelly pipe is the drive part of whole drill stem,It transmits torsional energy from the rotary table through the drill string to the bit at the bottom of the hole. ELITE has two types, square kelly and hexagonal kelly and all of them are manufactured comfort to API Spec7-1 and SY/T6509-2000 criterion.
ELITE Square& Hexagonal kelly pipe are made from AISI 4145H modifiing alloy bars that are quenching and tempering full length. After such heat treatment, its brinell hardness can reach 285-341. Kelley’s end, drive cross-section and joint are all processing and testing according to API standard. Each Kelly is furnishing with a pressing steel thread protectors.
The kelly is locating at the uppermost end of the drill string and has two squares and six squares. In the rotary drilling, when drilling, the hexagonal ELITE rig Kelly Pipe cooperates with the square filling and the rotating shaft to transmit the torque of the ground turntable to the drill pipe to drive the drill bit to rotate; and to withstand the weight of the drill string.
Straightness of the kelly is very crucial in the manufacturing process, thus straightness inspections are carriing out before,
during and after each machining operation. The flats are precision-milling to API specifications. All milling processes are
performed on specially designed rigid Square rig Kelly pipes mills to ensure tight tolerances and high quality drive sections.
ELITE Rig Kelly Pipe Features and Benefits
Manufactured from AISI 4145H-modified, fully heat-treated alloy steel with a Brinell hardness range of 285-341BHn and a minimum average Charpy impact value of 40 ft-lbs.
